The Feminist - Frida Kahlo Art Print

Inspiration

I had a great time creating this piece. Everything basically went from concept to finish and came out just as I had anticipated. It's really wonderful when that occurs.

I'm enjoying painting her and getting to know her face as I learn more about her life. I was inspired by the wonderful account of her feminism that I read online.

For her day, she was unusually independent and outspoken.

She was a heavy drinker and smoker who didn't mind expressing her opinions and living her life how she wanted rather than how society "expected" women to at the time. I find that admirable.

For who she was and what she stood for,

I admire her as an artist and what she has gone through.
